About Lake St. Croix Beach
Lake St. Croix Beach is a Washington County city on the St. Croix River, with 1,043 residents in the 2020 census. The name comes from Lake St. Croix, the broad stretch of river beside the city's roughly mile-long sandy shoreline. Three city parks shape the waterfront map: Riverfront Park carries the beach and pavilion, while Pettitt Park has a little-league field, playground, and picnic space. County Road 18 is the main route through town. The community began as a riverside cottage development. Many cottages later became year-round homes, and Lake St. Croix Beach incorporated as a city in 1951. Today the riverfront, summer swimming beach, ballfield, and two earthen levees all belong to the same local story: a seasonal retreat that became a year-round river city.
