About Lake Village

Tucked away in northwestern Indiana near the Illinois border, Lake Village is a quiet, rural community with deep roots in the surrounding countryside. Founded in the late 1800s near the historic Beaver Lake basin, it originally drew hunters and anglers before growing alongside the railroad in the early 1900s. Today, State Road 10 and nearby U.S. 41 keep residents easily connected to neighboring towns, while the village itself offers a peaceful, slow-paced lifestyle surrounded by wide-open farmland.

At the heart of town is the Lake Village Memorial Township Library, which was founded in 1944 by a local book club to honor World War II veterans. Community members originally built and stocked the library themselves, and today it serves as a welcoming gathering spot and a home for regional history. Families are served by the North Newton School Corporation, and residents enjoy a tight-knit small-town atmosphere with plenty of room to spread out.
