About Lakeside Woods
Lakeside Woods is a small Candlewood Lake community in southern Sherman, Fairfield County, set along the lake's western shore just below Sherman's main village. It is a census-designated place, but the more useful local description is geographic: houses and roads arranged around a long Connecticut lake, with water shaping views, recreation, and the trip to the town center. Sherman sits at the north end of Candlewood Lake in the Housatonic Valley, giving the neighborhood a rural-town setting with a strong summer and weekend pull.
State Routes 39, 37, and 55 connect the Sherman area to Danbury, New Milford, and the rest of western Connecticut. The town's K–8 school and nearby high-school choices serve the wider community, while Sherman's library, town offices, and municipal calendar provide the civic layer. Lakeside Woods has no separate municipal government; its everyday services run through Sherman. That relationship matters more than the CDP label: the neighborhood is lake-facing, but its schools, taxes, roads, and local decisions are part of the town around it. The result is a small place with a very specific edge—Candlewood Lake on one side, Sherman's village network on the other.
