Lakeview, OH

Lakeview is a Logan County village on the edge of Indian Lake, a mostly artificial reservoir whose shoreline gives the community its name and much of its map. The village grew with the lake country around it, and the branch of the Logan County District Library gives residents a local stop for books, programs, and everyday errands. Roads lead toward Bellefontaine and the rest of Logan County, but the water remains the first thing that distinguishes Lakeview.

On March 14, 2024, an EF3 tornado tore through the Indian Lake area, heavily damaging Lakeview and killing three people while injuring 27 along its path. Recovery brought residents, volunteers, local groups, and county agencies into the same work of clearing debris and repairing homes. The lake and the village still organize daily life: recreation around the shoreline, library services in town, and a network of roads connecting the residential streets to the wider Logan County area. Lakeview is a small Ohio village whose name, geography, and recent history all point back to Indian Lake.
