About Lakeview
Lakeview is a Grant County census-designated place pressed against the southern edge of Soap Lake, in the dry lake-and-wheat country of central Washington. The 2020 census counted 1,068 residents. Locals and topographic maps often call the community Lakeview Park, which helps distinguish the place from the city next door. Washington 28 passes through the southeast corner, linking Lakeview to Ephrata, Odessa, and the wider Columbia Basin road map.
Soap Lake supplies the strongest local reference. The city next door is built around a mineral lake whose waters shaped the area’s visitor economy in the early twentieth century, and Lakeview sits just south of that shoreline community. Soap Lake School District serves the area, while homes and small roads fill the space between the lake city and the open basin. Lakeview is a named place that works through proximity: its own census boundary, Soap Lake at the door, and the highway carrying the region across the dry country. That is Lakeview’s trick.
