Lakewood Village, TX

Lakewood Village is a Denton County city of 635 people at the 2020 census, built on a peninsula along Lewisville Lake. Water wraps around three sides; the town's local map follows the lake, FM 720, Eldorado Parkway, and the bridge links toward Little Elm and the North Texas Tollway system. It incorporated in 1977 as a town, later shifted to Type A general-law status in 2008, and was originally marketed as a second-home community with a golf course and small-airplane runways.

Today it is a residential lakeside town with nearly five miles of shoreline in its jurisdictional limits, municipal water and sewer, professional fire and EMS, and a newer civic chapter around dark-sky protection. Lakewood Village became an International Dark Sky Community in 2019, and the town site treats clear night skies as part of its local character. Little Elm ISD serves the town, and Lakewood Village Elementary opened in 2025 as the first dedicated school campus inside the town. The local scoop is the contrast: a small peninsula with a big lake edge, growing its own services while staying tied to the DFW orbit.
