About Lanesville

Lanesville is a Harrison County town first settled around 1800 and platted in 1817. The place’s biggest annual marker is Lanesville Heritage Weekend, which began as a 1976 bicentennial celebration and grew into a multi-day festival of antique tractors, steam engines, sawmill demonstrations, farm toys, food, and a parade. That lineup is basically a local history lesson with engines attached. The town also has a Harrison County Public Library branch and Heritage Park, so the festival is not a one-off decoration—it fits the town’s regular map. Lanesville is southern Indiana with an early plat, a working-farm memory, and one very committed September weekend.
