About Leal
Leal is a Barnes County city whose townsite was platted in 1892 by settlers from the Uxbridge community, with a post office following that December. The Soo Line established a station in 1902, and Leal's later civic life gathered around its school and Methodist church, which served as a shared community center. The city lies in Edna Township amid the county's prairie road and rail network. Leal's present scale keeps the original pattern visible: a railroad-platted place where immigrant settlement, mail, worship, and school were concentrated in a small townsite.
