Lee, FL

Lee is a town in eastern Madison County, North Florida, with U.S. 90 on its north side and Interstate 10 about two miles south. The town sits five miles west of the Suwannee River, close to the county's eastern edge and the roads toward Live Oak and Valdosta. Its post office opened in 1882, and one local account ties the name to railroad supervisor Jim Lee while another connects it to Robert E. Lee. Philip Newland established a limekiln before the town was chartered in 1909.
