Lester Prairie, MN

Lester Prairie sits along the South Fork of the Crow River in eastern McLeod County. The city was platted in 1886 and named for John N. Lester, an original owner of the town site; the 2020 census counted 1,894 residents. Its clearest regional connection is the Dakota Rail Regional Trail, which follows a former rail corridor through town. Minnesota Highway 7 runs about a mile north, linking the city west to Hutchinson and east toward Minneapolis. Present-day civic life is concentrated around the school and trail corridor.
