Level Park-Oak Park, MI

Level Park-Oak Park is a census-designated place in Bedford Charter Township, immediately northwest of Battle Creek and just north of the Kalamazoo River. The 2020 census counted 3,260 residents. It is made up of two unincorporated communities that share the M-89 corridor: Level Park to the west and Oak Park to the east. Michigan Avenue, the local name for M-89, runs through the CDP and leads into Battle Creek in one direction and toward Plainwell in the other.

The community's character is tied to its position between township roads, river country, and the Battle Creek area. The Kalamazoo River forms the southern edge, while M-89 supplies the main line through the settlement. Battle Creek sits about five miles southeast, an easy reference point on the local map. Its map is less about a traditional incorporated downtown and more about neighborhoods gathered along a state route, close to the city but still part of the township. That in-between quality is the key to understanding Level Park-Oak Park.
