About Level Plains

Level Plains is a Dale County town between Daleville and Enterprise, with U.S. 84 and Alabama 134 running east-west through the community. The name fits the ground: the town sits on a flat tract that supported a schoolhouse, cotton gin, and grist mill before incorporation in 1965. The post office closed in 1901, but the school served the area until it burned in 1925 and later joined the Daleville system. Level Plains is Wiregrass Alabama in a plainspoken shape: flat land, old farm infrastructure, and a highway through the middle.
