Lewisburg, OH

Henry Horn laid out Lewisburg in 1818 as Lewisburgh, a Preble County village whose present map also includes Euphemia, the adjoining community founded by John Mumma; the two were combined in 1916. The old street plan still gives Lewisburg a recognizable center, while I-70, State Route 503, and State Route 40 connect it to the surrounding Preble County roads. The 2020 census counted 1,745 residents, and the village sits in the Dayton metropolitan area.

Commerce Street carries several everyday institutions: Brown Memorial Library, the municipal office, and nearby local businesses, while the Lewisburg Community Center hosts council and community meetings twice each month. Tri-County North Local School District occupies a larger role across the area, with one PK–12 campus serving Lewisburg and surrounding communities; its 2025–26 program includes College Credit Plus courses and career programs. Lewisburg’s useful shorthand is Commerce Street: library, municipal office, community center, and the school district’s local address all sit within the same small civic network.
