About Lexington

Lexington is the county seat of Davidson County, in North Carolina's Piedmont. Europeans had settled the area by at least 1775, but the city's modern fame is barbecue: the annual Lexington Barbecue Festival celebrates one of North Carolina's defining food traditions. High Rock Lake nearby adds recreation, while furniture, manufacturing, rail, and courthouse-town history round out the place. Lexington feels practical, smoky, and proudly local, with barbecue restaurants, old mills, downtown streets, and Piedmont roads all part of the character.
