About Long Beach
Long Beach is a Pope County city on the north shore of Lake Minnewaska, immediately west of Glenwood. Minnesota Highways 28 and 29 carry traffic through the community, placing it on the lake's western edge and just outside Glenwood's larger service area. The 2020 census counted 338 residents. Long Beach's map is mostly shoreline, lake roads, and open country around Minnewaska, with the highways providing its main overland connections.
Lake Minnewaska gives the town a distinctly waterside setting, while Glenwood is close enough to handle many of the errands and services that a small lakeshore community does not need to hold on its own. The result is a place that feels tied to two landscapes at once: the recreational life of the lake and the agricultural country of Pope County. A drive through Long Beach is less about a dense downtown than about moving between the water, the highway, and the neighboring city, with the lake remaining the clearest feature on the local map.
