Lopezville, TX

Lopezville is a Hidalgo County census-designated place two miles south of Edinburg along Farm Road 1426. The 2020 census counted 2,367 residents. The community sits in the Lower Rio Grande Valley’s farm-and-city edge, with homes and agricultural roads near the larger service centers of Edinburg and Pharr. Edinburg Consolidated and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo school districts serve different sections, so school routes follow the same divided local geography.

Lopezville took shape in the early 1960s as a trailer park, then grew into a colonia with older Lopezville and North Lopezville sections. The name honors Francisco Solano López, and the settlement’s history is tied to the people who built homes along the south-Edinburg road network. The schools give the community a practical connection to both cities throughout the year. Today the community’s everyday map is school zones, Farm Road 1426, irrigation country, and short trips into Edinburg for county services and work.
