Sitting along the west bank of the Rio Grande in Valencia County, Los Chaves is a quiet, semi-rural community located just south of Los Lunas and roughly thirty minutes from Albuquerque. Home to about 5,000 people, the area traces its history back to an 18th-century Spanish land grant and has maintained its agricultural roots. Today, peaceful residential roads wind through open pastures, horse properties, and green fields fed by the valley's historic acequias.
