Loyall, KY

Tucked into the Cumberland River valley just three miles northwest of Harlan, Loyall is a quiet mountain community with deep railroad roots. The town originally grew around a Louisville and Nashville rail yard in the 1920s, and that history is still visible in the way the neighborhoods line the riverbank beneath steep, forested ridges. Today, U.S. 119 runs right past town, giving residents an easy path through the valley while keeping neighborhood streets peaceful and unhurried.
