Luthersville, GA

Luthersville is a Meriwether County city on U.S. 27 Alternate, about 13 miles north of Greenville and near the Coweta line. Georgia incorporated it in 1872, and the town took its name from Martin Luther rather than a local family. The Central of Georgia Railroad arrived around the turn of the century and helped the place grow; today the highway is Main Street, linking Luthersville north to Newnan and south to Greenville. The town nearly lost its charter in 1999, a civic scare that now sits inside its local comeback story. Luthersville is west-central Georgia with a railroad past, a county edge, and a very direct road map.
