Lutz sits just north of Tampa, offering a blend of quiet neighborhoods, open acreage, and Old Florida charm. The area got its start in the early 1900s as a stop along the Tampa Northern Railroad, named after local landowner W. P. Lutz. Every Independence Day, residents gather by the depot and library for a parade, craft vendors, and the annual race for honorary "Guv'na" of Lutz, a lighthearted charity fundraiser that has been running for decades. Outdoor enthusiasts have plenty of green space to explore close to home as well. Lake Park features several interconnected lakes, mountain bike paths, horse trails, and an archery range, while the nearby Violet Cury Preserve offers peaceful hiking trails through pine flatwoods and oak hammocks.
