Lyons, WI

Lyons is an unincorporated community and census-designated place inside the larger Town of Lyons in Walworth County, Wisconsin. The 2020 census counted 932 residents. The community is about four and a half miles west-southwest of Burlington, along Wisconsin Highway 36, and it has a post office with ZIP code 53148. Keeping the CDP separate from the surrounding town matters here: the town was established in 1839 and includes a much larger area around the community.

The White River runs through the town, and the White River Bike Trail crosses the township from east to west. Nearly 20 miles of state-designated Rustic Roads add another layer to the road map, while the Town of Lyons municipal center houses town offices, highway crews, and volunteer fire and rescue services. Within the Lyons CDP, the post office, highway, river, and nearby farm roads provide the everyday landmarks. Lyons is a small Walworth County crossroads with a distinct community name inside a broader town government and landscape.
