Salem Lakes covers roughly 33 square miles of western Kenosha County, sitting right above the Illinois state line. The community officially came together in 2017 when the Town of Salem merged with the Village of Silver Lake, creating one large, spread-out municipality. Even with the unified name, locals still navigate by historic neighborhood hubs like Silver Lake, Wilmot, Trevor, and Camp Lake. State Highway 83 and quiet county roads thread these different corners together, giving residents a relaxed, semi-rural setting within an easy drive of both Milwaukee and Chicago suburbs.
