About Macedon

Macedon Center is a hamlet in the Town of Macedon, Wayne County, a few miles northwest of the larger Macedon hamlet along Macedon Center Road and Canandaigua Road. The crossroads sits in a town that is still mostly fields, wetlands, and woods, with the Erie Canal and its recreationway crossing the wider Macedon map. The road names do most of the introducing here, and that is part of the charm. The Macedon Center Volunteer Fire Department hosts an annual Lumberjack Festival each September on its firemen's field, giving the hamlet a surprisingly sturdy local tradition.

The festival turns timber-sports nostalgia into a weekend gathering, while the fire department remains one of the places where neighbors organize around the practical work of a rural community. The roads carry most of the daily traffic through the hamlet. Macedon Center's local scoop is a New York crossroads hamlet with a volunteer-fire backbone, a September lumberjack weekend, and canal country just beyond the fields.
