Madill, OK

Madill is the Marshall County seat in southern Oklahoma's Texoma region, about ten miles north of Lake Texoma. The 2020 census counted 3,914 residents. The city was named for George Alexander Madill, an attorney for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway, and the railroad connection still matters: BNSF uses Madill as a crew-change point on the line between Dallas and Tulsa. US 70, US 177, US 377, and State Highway 199 meet the city from different directions. Manufacturing gives Madill a working side beyond county offices and retail.

Trailer builders, agricultural-processing equipment, steel wire, and truck beds are made here, while Woody Ford has operated since 1920. Lake Texoma added a tourism current after Denison Dam was completed in 1944, and the National Sand Bass Festival has filled the courthouse square every June since 1963 with fishing, carnival rides, music, and craft booths. The town square still gives the festival a clear center. Madill is where a rail town, a manufacturing base, and a lake festival overlap.
