Madison, MN

Madison has a great origin story. Back in the late 1880s, locals wanted to secure the county seat so badly that a crew of 150 residents and 40 horse teams hauled the original courthouse 20 miles across the prairie to plant it here. Today, that determination shows in the striking 1899 brick-and-stone courthouse that still anchors the center of town. Set along U.S. Highway 75 in western Minnesota, Madison serves as the primary hub for Lac qui Parle County while holding onto a peaceful, easygoing pace.
