About Madras

Madras is a city and the county seat of Jefferson County, Oregon, situated in the high desert of Central Oregon at the intersection of U.S. Routes 26 and 97. Originally platted in 1902, the community of approximately 7,700 is known as the gateway to the Crooked River Gorge and is home to the Erickson Aircraft Collection. Public education is provided by Jefferson County School District 509-J.
