Manalapan, FL

Manalapan is a quiet, upscale coastal town in Palm Beach County, situated on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lake Worth Lagoon. With only about 400 full-time residents, it has the feel of a private enclave. The town is uniquely divided into two parts connected only by water: a slender oceanfront stretch lined with luxury estates and a residential section on nearby Hypoluxo Island. Founded in part by Harold Vanderbilt in the 1930s, the community has preserved its low-key, strictly residential character for decades.

Daily living here centers on water views, boating, and privacy. Because Manalapan has virtually no commercial development beyond a small shopping plaza and a luxury resort near the bridge, locals head into neighboring Lake Worth Beach, Palm Beach, or West Palm Beach for groceries, dining, and medical facilities. Families have access to the wider Palm Beach County school system, while the town maintains its own dedicated public safety and municipal services. It is a rare slice of coastal Florida where life moves at an easy, unhurried pace.
