About Manchester
Manchester is a city in Dickinson County, Kansas, counted at 47 residents in the 2020 Census. The county's comprehensive plan says the town was platted in the 1880s by English and Scottish settlers and Civil War veterans, with the name chosen for Manchester, England. The Chicago-Kansas-Western Railroad soon became the town's economic center; later Santa Fe passenger service ran a one-car Doodlebug through Manchester. Grain elevators, a mill, and a newspaper followed the rail corridor.
