Mansfield is a small, quiet town in southeastern Newton County, Georgia, with roots dating back to the railroad boom of the 1890s. Before settling on its current name, the area went by Carmel and Bob Lee as rail lines connected the surrounding farming country. Local tradition says the town finally got the name Mansfield from the only developer who managed to stay sober during the celebration after their first land sale.
