About Manteo

Manteo is a historic town and the county seat of Dare County, North Carolina, situated on Roanoke Island. Named for the Native American liaison who traveled to London in 1584 and hosting the annual Dare Day celebration, the coastal community of approximately 2,020 is served by the Dare County Schools district for public education.
