Marble City, OK

Town of Marble City is a town in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, United States. The 2020 census counted 186 residents. Marble City is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area around what is now Marble City was considered part of Lovely County, Arkansas Territory until 1829. Marble City makes sense once you see how its past, landscape, and current gathering spots overlap. The useful thing to know about Marble City is that its older landmarks and current settings belong to one connected place. In that year, the Federal Government began moving the Western Cherokees from other parts of Arkansas Territory into this area, then called Nicksville. Town of Marble City is approximately 9 miles north of Sallisaw.
