Marcelline, IL

Marcelline is an Adams County CDP in northwest Ursa Township, four miles north of Ursa and five miles south of Lima along Illinois Route 96. The settlement’s postal history reaches to 1843, after an earlier Bear Creek post office in the area closed in 1836. That sequence gives the place a long connection to rural mail routes. Bear Creek lies about two miles north, while the 128,760-square-meter Census footprint sits on the north-south road linking these small western Illinois communities.
