Margate City, NJ

Margate City is a Jersey Shore city on Absecon Island, just south of Atlantic City. It was originally incorporated as South Atlantic City before taking the Margate name, and it has a more residential, owner-occupied feel than some nearby beach towns. Weekly rentals are less dominant here, which changes the summer rhythm. Margate is also home to Lucy the Elephant, one of the Shore's strangest and most beloved landmarks. It feels beachy, settled, and a little old-school Atlantic County.
