About Marion

Marion is a Wayne County town named for Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, with the hamlet of Marion serving as its local center. The area was first settled around 1795 and sits about 20 miles east of Rochester, in a part of the Finger Lakes region shaped by farms and old north-south roads. The Ezra T. Phelps Farm Complex, a Greek Revival farmhouse, timber barn, and brick smokehouse, is on the National Register. Marion is upstate New York in a farm-country and history-book shape.
