About Marshall

Marshall is a city and the county seat of Harrison County, Texas, serving as a cultural and educational center of the Ark-La-Tex region. Tracing its history to the mid-nineteenth century, Marshall was a key industrial and political center for the Confederacy during the Civil War, and later hosted a regional office of the Freedmen's Bureau. The city of approximately 23,800 is home to Wiley College, founded in 1873, and is famous for hosting the annual Wonderland of Lights festival.
