Mayetta, KS

Mayetta is a quiet Jackson County community tucked about twenty minutes north of Topeka. Founded in the late 1880s as a stop along the Rock Island Railroad and named after a local founder's young daughter, Mary Etta, the town grew as merchants moved in to set up shop near the new tracks. Today, the town maintains that calm, open-country feel, with quiet residential streets and wide Kansas skies.

For commuters, Mayetta sits right off U.S. Highway 75, making trips into Topeka or north toward Holton simple and direct. Local children attend the Royal Valley school district, which serves as a central gathering point for the community. The town also borders the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation reservation just to the south, where the Prairie Band Casino & Resort serves as a major regional employer and entertainment destination.
