Mayfield, UT

Mayfield is a small town in southwestern Sanpete County, set among the farms and mountains of central Utah. Latter-day Saint settlers arrived in 1871, and the town's founding families included Andersons, Petersons, Petersens, Bartholomews, Jensens, Sorensens, and Willdens. Sanpete County history records early settlement at Arrapine, also called Arropeen, scouting in 1870, and a new town organized through the United Order Cooperative Society. The settlement was first called New London in 1875 before the communities combined as Mayfield in 1877.

Today Mayfield is still shaped by its valley setting and agricultural rhythm. Town government handles municipal water, while the volunteer fire department and local meetings keep civic duties close to home. South Sanpete schools serve the area, and the road toward central Sanpete communities links Mayfield with the larger county network. The name carries the memory of several early settlements coming together, but the town's present feel comes from the same combination of family land, mountain weather, and local institutions that has held the community together for generations.
