About McNary

McNary is a small census-designated place in Apache and Navajo counties on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. At more than 7,300 feet in elevation, it is one of Arizona's highest communities, with a cooler mountain setting very different from the desert lowlands. The community was once known as Cluff Cienega and has ties to Fort Apache history. McNary is served by its local elementary school district, with older students attending schools in nearby Pinetop-Lakeside.
