Medicine Lake, MT

Medicine Lake is a town in Sheridan County, Montana, United States. The 2020 census counted 244 residents. On July 5, 1937, Medicine Lake recorded a temperature of 117 °F, setting the record for the highest temperature ever recorded in Montana. Edward Stubban named this place Flandrem for his home town in Norway and established a post office and store in 1906. That mix gives Medicine Lake a clear local shape within Montana, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. The town moved about 2 miles with the construction of the Great Northern Railway in 1910.
