Meeker, OK

Meeker is a Lincoln County town at the junction of State Highway 18 and U.S. Highway 62, about 14 miles south of Chandler. The town's residents selected the Meeker name on May 29, 1903, after an earlier rail-line name, Fowler, was already in use. The 2020 census counted 1,004 residents. Meeker's road position gives the town a clear connection to the communities and farm country of east-central Oklahoma.

Carl Hubbell, the Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher who set a major-league record with 24 consecutive wins in 1936 and 1937, is Meeker's best-known hometown figure. His name appears on Carl Hubbell Boulevard, while the Meeker Historical Museum beside City Hall holds military, fire, quilt, and medical displays. Meeker Public Schools run from elementary through high school, and the town's civic directory includes a library, senior center, post office, police, and fire services. Meeker is a small highway town today where a remarkable baseball legacy sits alongside school, museum, and municipal life.
