Meeteetse, WY

Meeteetse is a Park County town on the Greybull River, where the 2020 census counted 309 residents. The settlement grew after Otto Franc established the Pitchfork Ranch around 1878 and opened the area's first post office at his ranch in 1882. A later bridge across the Greybull moved traffic toward the newer town and left Arland bypassed.

The town sits between the Absaroka Mountains to the west and Bighorn Mountains to the east, with ranching, oil and gas, and tourism shaping the local economy. The Charles Belden Museum preserves photography from the Pitchfork Ranch and the working West, while the Meeteetse Museums hold local history in the old commercial core. Park County School District 16 serves students on a K-12 campus. Yellowstone's East Entrance is about 80 miles away, putting the town on a regional travel route that still runs through ranch country.
