Megargel is a quiet rural town in Archer County, located about forty miles southwest of Wichita Falls. Founded in 1910 as a depot along the Gulf, Texas and Western Railroad, the community was named for railroad president Roy C. Megargel and quickly grew to support local farms and ranches.
