Mercer, WI

Mercer is the named settlement inside the Town of Mercer in Iron County, a Northwoods community set along US 51 and the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. The post office dates to 1895, while the town’s civic history reaches back to the first train in 1894 and the town’s 1909 establishment. That rail beginning still shows up in the address map: town offices sit on Railroad Street, and the Mercer Area Historical Society keeps its depot museum in a former station.
