Meredosia, IL

Meredosia sits right along the east bank of the Illinois River, where life has revolved around the water since the 1830s. The village got its start as a busy trade hub, even hosting Illinois' very first railroad track back in 1837, and later made a name for itself harvesting freshwater mussels for pearl buttons.
