Mesa, CA

Mesa is an Inyo County CDP on the eastern Sierra side of the Owens Valley, a small place whose name is simply Spanish for table or plateau. The community sits in the Round Valley school map, with Round Valley Joint Elementary serving younger students and Bishop Unified covering high school grades. Bishop is the nearest larger reference point, but Mesa has its own census boundary and a high-desert address. There is not much formal town center to point to, which is part of the read: Mesa is an Eastern Sierra place organized by roads, school districts, and the flat land above the valley. Inyo County is the big frame; Mesa is the small name on it.
