About Meyersdale

Meyersdale is a Somerset County borough on the Casselman River and the Great Allegheny Passage, with a local identity that runs on maple, coal, and rail. The town’s growth took off after the railroad arrived in 1871, coal followed, and the Pennsylvania Maple Festival began in 1948. The former Western Maryland Railway station now serves as a visitor center and museum, while the trail carries the old rail line onward. Meyersdale is the Maple City, but the full story has more than syrup in it.
