Middle River, MD

Middle River is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland. It has a strong twentieth-century industrial and migration story, once known as a Little Appalachia because of Appalachian families who moved there for work. The Martin Aerospace Center shaped local school and neighborhood life, including Victory Villa Elementary School, built for employees' children. Today Middle River is a large Baltimore-area community with residential neighborhoods, water nearby, and a history tied to defense manufacturing.
