Milford sits right along the Mispillion River, which splits the town between Kent and Sussex counties. A quick walk across any of the downtown bridges connects both sides, making the county line feel practically invisible. While the riverfront was once home to busy shipyards and mills, today it is the scenic center of town. Locals spend sunny afternoons walking the mile-long Mispillion Riverwalk, strolling through Bicentennial Park, or grabbing coffee before browsing the shops along Walnut Street.

Getting around and finding work here is straightforward. The sprawling Bayhealth Sussex Campus on the south end of town is one of the region's largest employers and a major healthcare hub. Commuters and day-trippers also appreciate how easy it is to jump on Route 1. You can drive up to Dover in about twenty minutes or head south to coastal spots like Lewes and Rehoboth Beach in around half an hour. Even with steady growth and new business parks popping up, the town center has held onto its relaxed vibe, complete with local bakeries, art galleries, and community theater productions at the Riverfront Theatre.

Community events keep the calendar full throughout the year. The Saturday farmers market runs by the river from spring through late fall, and monthly First Friday gatherings bring neighbors out to local shops and eateries. Spring kicks off with the quirky Bug & Bud Festival, celebrating Delaware's state bug, the ladybug, alongside costumed pet parades and plant sales. Come September, the Riverwalk Freedom Festival takes over the riverbanks with live music, food vendors, craft booths, and fireworks over the water. It gives Milford a warm, welcoming hometown feel where newcomers settle in quickly.
