Millbrook, IL

Millbrook is a Kendall County village on the southeast side of the Fox River, about 60 miles southwest of Chicago and seven miles southwest of Yorkville. It incorporated on November 5, 2002, after local resident Pete Petersen pushed to formalize the community. The 2020 census counted 277 people. That late incorporation and its location in the Chicago metropolitan area give Millbrook a particular shape: a small river village whose civic life sits inside a much larger Fox Valley region.

The Fox River is the physical thread through the area. Nearby Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area follows the river through springs, small lakes, oak and prairie habitat, and offers fishing, boating, camping, hiking, equestrian trails, and winter activities. The village's own site describes a mix of agricultural and residential acreage, while village meetings and seasonal events keep local decisions close to home. Yorkville is seven miles away and serves as the county seat, with Aurora about 19 miles northeast, so Millbrook's orientation runs between a small village center, river recreation, and the larger Fox Valley towns.
