About Milmay
Milmay is a South Jersey community spread across Buena Vista Township in Atlantic County and Maurice River Township in Cumberland County, with the upper Manumuskin tying the two halves together. Cedar logging was underway by 1758; Italian and Polish immigrants settled the area in the late nineteenth century, the railroad arrived around 1894, and the post office followed in 1897. A later attempt to grow tobacco and licorice never stuck. Milmay is the New Jersey Pine Barrens edge in a cedar-and-railroad story.
